Brief: Our client wanted a
microsite (small website) to showcase a nutritional supplement. The product,
Greens for Life, contains large amounts of health-giving fruits and vegetables
which help alkalize the body. The website was to be used in conjunction with an
advertising campaign both on-line and in print.
Solution: We constructed a
small 1 page website with a clean layout and spacing which links to the
shopping cart for orders. The large amount of information the client wanted to
convey was broken down into blocks for ease of reading. Bullet points highlight
key information and a minimal use of images ensures fast page loading. A
bolt-on shopping cart (PHP Cart) was used which is a suitable solution for
freestanding websites. Payments is taken through the clients
PayPal account.
Comments: This combination
of a small microsite and lightweight cart has given the client the ability to
sell online fast for a very reasonable outlay. The ability to take online
orders and payment 24 hours a day means the cost of the project will be
recovered in a short timeframe. As the site is only selling 2 products, a
larger database driven shop was unnecessary. The client takes payment by
credit/debit card through their account through PayPal which is more suited to
the small or new trader. This project was conceived and finished in under a
week. As the client has a hosting account with
WebFusion they can easily
expand to a larger solution as their business continues to grow.
